I do not agree with abortion.
I do not like big government telling us what to do
I believe in North Hodge and do not think it has reached it full potential.
I think we should love our neighbors and help them out anyway we can. ____________________________
Personal Opinion and thoughts from the Village Meetings.
My personal opinion on March 2,2010 meeting.
When I used the words "I recommended, supported, and voted for" on my accomplishments page, that was my view and opinions of the items we were considering. Recommend is simply defined by: "to present as worthy of confidence, acceptance, use, etc.; commend; mention favorably, synonyms are approve, condone". So when I say I recommended, supported and voted for an item, that does not mean that I automatically was the first one to initialize or the first one to recommend it in history. It simply means that I actively supported and promoted these views. The views were my opinions on the matter. I am part of a three person council and could not have accomplished what I have without the support of the council on these critical views.
My personal opinion on Feb 2,2010 meeting.
I was disturbed that we were presented with a map of the street lights and given the option by Entergy to start shutting certain ones off. I do not agree with turning our street lights off at night and I do not think we should pass that cost on the citizens. That is what tax dollars are for.
I addressed the council and public during the public comments time which I feel that I have been misquoted for. I stated that "I was a little disappointed that I was not at the last meeting when I was replaced as Mayor Pro-Tempore. I wish we would have waited until I was there". The paper read that I was "disappointed that I was not at the last meeting", true, that is part of what I said, but when you get the whole paragraph it has a different meaning.
I stated that with the Mayor's current health problems that we need a more experienced Mayor Pro-Tempore. Anything less would be cheating our citizens. This was not an attack on anyone and I do not remember saying the new Pro-Tempore was unqualified, but more trying to relay that we need an experienced person in that position. It does not have to be me, 2/3 of the board have ran the town before, select one of them.
Unfortunately, the 2010 election season has begun early for North Hodge and the personal attacks have already started. These high-school style politics will only hurt the people that we are supposed to be serving.
My personal opinion on Dec 29,2009 meeting.
Mr. Hall made the motion, Mrs. Fitzpatrick seconded to delete part B of Section 1 and to change Section 11 of the Bingo Ordinance to read that the Village of North Hodge will be paid 1.5% of the Coin-in per month in the form of a tax, instead of the $10,000 a month. I was unable to make this meeting because of my job commitments. In the past I have appealed to the board and Mayor that I am the only one that has a job outside the town hall and to please work with me on these special meeting dates. Unfortunately, the meeting was set on a day that I was not able to attend. I supported this Charitable Bingo Hall at first because of the $10,000 a month tax. That would have greatly helped better the quality of North Hodge and it's citizens. I do not support the lower tax rate.
